Weston Estate

Behind the Music

Weston Estate’s songs showcase how the group’s sound and identity have developed, many of them drawn from personal experiences. The band often incorporates real-life events into its lyrics. For instance, “Pears” was created during a chaotic period when the members were trying to juggle school and music in the stress of the COVID-19 pandemic. To escape from it all, they retreated to the mountains in Maggie Valley, NC, focusing solely on making music. “Pears” serves as both an emotional outlet and a coming-of-age story about self-discovery and finding one's place in the world. Critics highlight this track as a turning point for the group, marking a shift from casual bedroom experiments to a more introspective and intentional style.

In contrast, their hit “Stoked” emerged during a lighter moment on another mountain trip. The band has mentioned that they composed the song as a playful joke, a way to create something carefree after working on heavier material. However, upon listening back, they realized the track had an irresistible groove and decided to release it, demonstrating how spontaneity and humor can unexpectedly lead to some of their most beloved work.

The song “So Good” was inspired by the band's first visit to Los Angeles, during which they experienced a blend of "foreign emotions" and unfamiliar surroundings. The track combines bossa nova and classical pop influences with their indie sound, showcasing their creative growth.

More recently, “I Saw Something” reflects their evolution into deeper emotional storytelling. The song addresses the shock of confronting a painful truth, and features more experimental production, marking the band’s continued growth. Collectively, these behind-the-scenes moments reveal how Weston Estate’s music is shaped by friendship, personal challenges, spontaneous creativity, and the journey of growing up as they navigate the world around them.
