The Rilletan, or Harlequins, are a major faction within the Aeldari. They are unique in that they treat war as an art, taking role as performers in elegant, deadly battle. These brave and fearless Aeldari hold no allegiance to any form of exisiting authority other than their own belief in the Aeldari deity Cegorach, the Laughing God. Groups of these Harlequins known as Troupes often travel across the stars in search for new audiences they can entertain with stories of the Fall of the Aeldari. The meaning of "entertain", however, is often twisted by the Rilletan, less their audiences be that of the Aeldari. Often, a performance is synonymous with a battle with the Rilletan, and they shall educate all across the Great Stage through any means necessary.
Within the Rilletan are several roles a Troupe member can take, each important to the stories they tell through their elegant displays of violence. The most prominent role is the Solitaire, in which a Harlequin plays the part of Slaanesh within the Fall. These Harlequins are strangers even to the Rilletan, often living anonymously and alone for years to decades on end, often only joining single performances. It is said that when these dauntless warriors are slain in battle, Cegorach himself fights for their souls with Slaanesh, maintaining they do not get consumed by the God of Excess.
