Speed Cube Mat
A major part of cubing is Speed Cubing, which is just seeing how fast someone can solve a cube. All over the world, Cubing Competitions are hosted so Cubers can race agaisnt each other. During these events, there are other challenges like blindfold, cube relay, and different cube sizes like 4x4 and 5x5. Officially, they only go up to 5x5 when timing, but in general cubes can go up to 20x20, just not competitively. Competition isn’t the only thing that creates the Cubing Community however. In recent years, with the rise of Cubing, people started to come together to support their favorite Cubers in Compeition, almost like a sports event. Well known figures in the Cubing Community are: J-Perm, Max Park, Feliks Zemdegs, and Dana Yi. Another part of Cubing are the cubes themselves. Nowadays, there are thousands of cubes to collect, and some are more difficult than others to solve. Finding these wacky cubes to solve is part of the enjoyment of the hobby. Also maintaining these cubes are important, when the cubes are well taken care of, they go faster and improve handling and solving times. Thats why when first getting into cubing, it’s typically taught how to care and clean the cube for best performance.
