Wonders of Cubing

The start of Cubing goes all the way back to 1974 by Erno Rubick. He was a Hungarian professor of Architecture, and while trying to make an assignment for his students, he accidently created the first versions of the Rubick’s cube (named after him). The initial batch of Rubick’s Cubes were called “Magic Cubes”, then as popularity grew, in the 1980s, the first official Rubick’s Cubes started to get produced and sold. Since Cubing was still very unknown and a niche hobby, back in the day they would use a mailing list to share new algorithms and create their own competitions to see who can solve the cube the fastest. In recent years, due to the help and wide-spread of the internet, cubing is more popular than ever. Learning how to solve a cube is more accessible now with youtube tutorials and PDFs of algorithm’s for solving and practice. Also with online shopping, getting good quality Rubick’s Cube and general equipment like Rubick’s Cube lube and Cube Timer Mats.
